  1. Dear Sanjay and All,

It is always necessary that someone who is more concerned about issue starts sharing the facts. Certainly your efforts to enlighten the peers on Sustainable procurement is noble step. This is not a very new concept. Our ancestors were following this philosophy but now we have become very greedy and not giving any thoughts on that. Based on my service to Government Organization for Two decade, We have taken care up to certain extent but due to Private Competitor's strategy several time we were compelled to compromise but still it is part of Policy.
If there is any problem then there are several solutions and it is up to the individual's mind set and awareness level and accordingly he select the solutions.
It also true that time has come when we group of sensible procurement professional have to take lead to making awareness as well as educate to the concerned people because without them our concern will not give the result to support the sustainable procurement.
Sustainable Procurement will see the light of real success only when it will be take as movement by the Procurement Professional at different forum so that it may be part of our daily professional routine and habit instead of mere knowledge.

    Regards,

    A.K.SAHA

  2. Welcome Mr Saha on this blog. You are right that our ancestors were following this but somewhere we forgot all these in our attempt to catch up with the western world. The situation now is such, we are again learning this concept from European and western world in absence of home grown expert on this subjects. But for me it hardly matters - where is the source of an idea? If it is good and make sense for India, we should strive to adopt it.

I fully agree that procurement professionals have to take the lead in this field. The very idea of this blog is to build a critical mass of professionals, who can take lead in integrating sustainability in public buying. i am sure you will take this agenda forward among your colleagues.
